[Log] Run before you walk
Characters: Master Chief | John (
one_one_se7en), Mizuno Ami | Sailor Mercury (
waterfell)
Where: Ami's universe.
When: Monster-of-the-Week shenanigans for Ami.
Summary: A visit to aid Ami goes to shit when it deals with familiar issues. Particularly the fact John inhabits the body of a tiny girl in skirt again.
Warnings: Tomfoolery.
John wouldn't have expected this to be a normal day, knowing well this was a time and place to help Ami in a mission as a form to spend time together, and yet things took a turn for the expectedly weird once he realized he lifted himself way too easily.
As a matter of fact, sitting straight his eye level didn't so much reach his height. Ami's did, now.

"Not again."

"Not again."

It was John's.
And the view through that lens wasn't of John.
It was her.
Even Ami's brain was taxed trying to take this in, not to mention making any sense of it, and as she lifted her hand to look at it, she didn't even have time to notice it was encased in metal armor before it moved too quickly, punching herself right in the faceplate before she had the chance to stop herself.
"What's going on here?!"

"Ami," John tried to shake off how awkward it was that he was telling his own body that, "don't break my armor. Breathe."
He wasn't foolish enough to come near that, but he still held out an arm -Ami's arm- to try to get her in peace. Almost like pacifying a live and angry dragon.

At least she was starting to answer her own question: If she was looking at herself (John), and wearing the Mjolnir armor... they had clearly somehow... switched?
Immediately, all the problems rushed to her mind: How to explain this to her friends, how to avoid Mama seeing this, how to handle school while this was going on...
"We need to figure out how to fix this right away!"

"We beat our enemy, we get back," John tried using a voice as disciplined as possible while sounding exacttly like Ami. "If not, we get venture out of this world, we get someone else to help."
Granted, he didn't like having to relearn how to balance, which is troubled by standing up and feeling as if a strong gust of wind could push her down, but heels notwithstanding, somehow she manages standing on both feet.
"First, learn how to stand."

Like standing up. If her movements were too fast....
Ami tried standing with what felt like painfully slow caution, but still managed to end up flat on her face.
... with an indent in the shape of John's armor in the ground.
She gave a small wince, hidden by the visor, but realized she was actually more embarrassed than hurt.

John recalled hitting his wrist hard upon first saluting inside the MJOLNIR, but he didn't believe it had caused similar accidents among Spartans. This would take a while.
He knees, moving far too timidly, as if assuming Ami's body was vastly heavier and barely getting used to see he was mistaken.
"Just think," John recalled Halsey's first lessons in regards to the MJOLNIR, "about moving your arm."
It took the Spartans some time to get used to the suit. While John was worried by himself about having to get used to Ami's frail but magic-laden body, Ami herself would have much greater issues.
"Move slowly. Only think."
no subject
Not that she wouldn't try. John had experience with the Mjolnir, which meant she'd do well to listen to his advice. And with time, Ami painstakingly made her way back to her feet. (How did John do this all the time?)

Little by little, John stepped forward in Ami's body, hand still upwards as if tending for a wild animal encased inside a suit of armor. She was making good progress so far, but she recognized the dangers.
"Think... about standing." Even that might have trouble. "Then, only, and only think, of raising your arm." John realized Ami's fingers felt stranger. Cold.
Looking at them, John realized they had formed a layer of frost that did not melt -- or even feel unbearably cold to her fingers.

Just thinking about moving her arm, not doing it. She consciously kept herself still and only imagined the movement of raising her arm.
This time, it went more smoothly, although it was still doubtful she was entirely in control of her movements.]

John realized this would take long for her to teach her. It was nothing new to him to be thrown into another body and feeling like a feather about to be thrown into the wind, but a heavier body with lightning-fast reactions would clearly be difficult for everyone.
But, looking again at that layer of frost in her fingers, John got an idea on how the two of them could train.
"I have an idea," he looked up at Ami, "how do you shoot ice, snow, and water?"
no subject
"Cry out, 'Mercury Aqua Mist!'" she instructed John. Better to start from the beginning. It was the first attack she'd ever used.
